Public Questions

If the Foreign Housing Ban is Not renewed in January, what is your strategy to keep housing prices lower?

Candidate response

Foreign buyers ban is a provincial issue. This means the city doesn’t have much control over it and therefore will be hard to stop foreign buyers from investing in BC. However, I feel fairly comfortable that the tax will continue and the Asian financial market is not that prosperous right now so there is not a lot of investing going on in Canada. It’s a difficult thing to answer because there are so many variables and we won’t know until after January how it will affect Nanaimo.
